WHO AM I?

My name

Elfrida Nilsdotter Ahlby and I´m an artist working

withe textile and painting. I often combines my knowledge of

traditional crafts and love for the materials in the context of art.

I was born

and raised on Gotland off the east coast of Sweden and moved

back to the island after finishing my BA in 2010.

Currently

I work in my studio in my house in Visby. I also teach workshops different textile techniques and art aswell.

Lately

I have been working on embroideries where I combine my love for colour, the textile materials and the slow communication skills of threads.

The tactile

properties of textiles are a major part of my creative process. The slow work of embroidery gives a lot of time and space for reflection and thought during the process
